49th Billingham International Folklore Festival.
10th to 17th August 2013

Billingham International Folklore Festival, now in its 49th year, is the largest festival of its kind in the UK and one of the oldest festivals in Europe. This annual 8-day long festival, which will take place from 10th to 17th August 2013, celebrates the diversity and richness of traditional cultures, as well as contemporary dance companies, from across the world by bringing together over 300 dancers, musicians, singers and craftsmen to promote and demonstrate their artistic work. The Festival concerts will take place at the specially constructed Arena in Billingham Town Centre; Forum Theatre, Billingham; Picture House, Billingham & Middlesbrough Theatre, with special events scheduled at Middlesbrough Town Hall and Dance City, Newcastle. In addition to the main concert programme there will be street performances, dance and music workshops and Uncle BIFF Children’s Club.

Each year Billingham transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour and joie de vivre and becomes a “meeting place” for world cultures, showcasing the diversity and richness of the World traditional and contemporary Cultures through dance, music, songs, costumes and crafts at performances, parades, exhibitions, and workshops, presenting over 300 best International performers from 8-10 countries from all over the World.

INTRODUCING BILLINGHAM FESTIVAL LINE UP 2013 Billingham Festival 2013 is proud to present to you the line-up of outstanding dance companies from across the globe and the UK, presenting a variety of Dance Styles, from traditional to contemporary dance companies inspired by World Traditional Cultures, including Royal Chinese, Latin American, Basque and Kathak Dance, Chinese Martial Arts, Precision Clogging and Hip Hop, there this something for everyone to enjoy …

We are also delighted to bring to you performances by outstanding UK professional companies, whose appearances at our festival are funded by Arts Council, including, Zendeh, the cross art form theatre company, Sonia Sabri Dance Company and "The Lock In" Dance Show, No1 UK Folk & Hip-Hop Extravaganza.
