In 2013 more than 50 new shops and businesses opened, relocated or expanded in the Town Centre – a rate of more than one per week.

Stockton is also home to new speciality toy shops specialising in hand-crafted toys and gifts – Toy Sorts and Jack and Jill’s Toys. As well as the bustling hub of independent shops almost every weekend visitors to Stockton can also browse a specialist market or enjoy an event. Stockton’s 700 year old traditional market continues to be held every Wednesday and Saturday. A full programme of specialist markets further enhances and complements the shopping experience.
