What is Reiki Healing ?

Reiki healing is an ancient form of energy healing that originated in Japan . Its name is actually formed from 2 seperate Japanese words :

REI - meaning` Higher Awareness` or universal

KI - meaning `life energy` (akin to the more well known `Chi` of    Chinese origin)

Throughout the history of mankind, healing methods have existed which were based on the transfer of a universal, all-pervading life energy. the knowledge of Reiki would have remained lost forever had it not been rediscovered in 2,500 year-old Sanskrit sutras at a Japanese monastery by Dr. Mikao Usui towards the end of the 19th Century.

Reiki is not a religion, nor is it a faith system. All that is required of a person is the willingness to heal.

It uses a technique commonly called palm healing or hands on healing as a form of alternative medicine and is sometimes classified as oriental medicine by some professional medical bodies.
During a healing session the therapist or healer acts as a channel for this universal life force, conducting it throught their own body in into strategic areas around the patients own body.
This intelligent energy then travels and acts as it is needed, strengthening and recharging the bodys own energies to improve its natural regenerations . It works within the physical, spiritual and emotional bodies to clear blockages and restore the natural flow of energy , release toxins and impurities from the body and restore balance

If nothing else , Reiki is a great way to help relieve your Daily Stress

What happens during a healing session ?

Each Reiki healing session can differ , and is always tailored to the needs and requests of the patient as much as possible . Typically a treatment will last 45 minutes to an hour , but initial consultation at the first session can also take 20 minutes before the healing starts .
As a patient , recieving a Reiki treatment is incredibly simple , non intrusive and can be a powerful and moving process .
Typically the patient will lie on a therapy bed and relaxes whilst the healer places thir hands in a number of posistions , acting as a channel or conduit for the Reiki energy . As an intelligent energy, only as much energy as is required is absorbed by the patients body , and it naturally travels to where it is needed - the source of the imbalance within the body .
Reiki is a complimentary therapy and thus works well in conjuction with most other forms of medication and treatment , often alleviating any unpleasent side effects from some conventional medicines , It is a completly natural and safe therapy , pure healing energy with no side effects .
