Heres a well written post which mirrors our own opinions

IoT : The truth behind. A new Facebook page [read more...]

"This is a page to tell you the Real Truth About the Incidents on Teesside Page and to dispel the myths and lies."

"You may be aware that Incidents on Teesside were recently removed from Facebook and then reinstated. Unfortunately, if you read their page you will see that they are trying to tell everyone that they were removed due to false reports about Pornography on there. This is completely untrue.....

You need to look and see the real reason why they got taken off and banned from Facebook. They were never reported for pornography and that is a blatant lie. It was for the disgusting messages etc sent to members by Admin and posted by Admin on their Facebook page.........

Whilst the idea of Incidents on Teesside is a good one its let down badly by the egotistical people who run it. They seem to be more interested in inflating their own ego or sensationalizing incidents rather than just sticking to the simple facts.

In addition, there have been numerous concerns about photos of car crashes etc posted on there before relatives are informed, thus causing distress to family and friends. Also the fact they publish photos of other ongoing incidents which encourages idiots to go there and enflames the situation, not to mention makes the Emergency Services job harder. And all this is endorsed by Incidents on Teesside Admin.

For some Bizarre reason they now dress themselves in 'hoodies’ and see the need to turn up at incidents in these. It serves no purpose whatsoever to rush to an incident in these, other than to inflate their own ego even further.

They also call themselves part of the “Incidents on Teesside Media Group”. This gives the impression its part of a professional organisation. It isn’t, its just someone who started a facebook page and nothing else, so please don’t be fooled by the “Media Group” nonsense.

It has also transpired that they are charging businesses to advertise on there. Not only is this against Facebook Rules but it raises the question of where the money goes. Facebook costs nothing so there are no running costs. They claim it goes to charity but provide no proof whatsoever. Charities will always provide receipts if required or it will show on Bank Statements etc. They cannot produce any evidence as to charitable donations.

If you raise any concerns or question about anything or any of the above it is ignored and the person asking will just get banned. If you persist with asking you are possibly then subjected to abusive and bullying messages, as many can testify.

You can view a lot of these messages in the photos section of the following Facebook page, people have screenshot them and posted them on there:

Stockton on Tees man wins BBCs Mastermind !!!  Congratulations

5/1/2014

AN unemployed man who entered BBC quiz show Mastermind after losing his job was tonight declared the winner. Chris Webber fired the questions at Clive Dunning.

THE new Mastermind of Britain, otherwise known as Clive Dunning, has put his success down to the need to prove himself after losing his job.

Mr Dunning, 55, from Norton, Stockton, said being made redundant from his job as an English lecturer left him feeling “humiliated.”

“I really needed a new focus,” he said, “and I’d been tinkering with the idea of going on Mastermind for a while. It gave me something to aim for.

“I was badly affected. I felt so humiliated. I had this bee in my bonnet about proving I wasn’t stupid.”

Mr Dunning, a father-of-three, who has been with his partner, Jean Dove, a nurse, for 30 years, worked at ICI after leaving school with one CSE and a solitary O Level. He went on to work as a labourer in the building trade.

But aged 30 he decided to take an access course which eventually led to him studying English Literature at Teesside University and then becoming a lecturer at Stockton Riverside College.

After losing his job he filled in a BBC on-line form and was asked 15 questions on the phone by a researcher.

He did well enough to be put before a panel in a studio of TV production assistants in Newcastle and, after answering 20 questions, was eventually selected for the TV show, one of less than 100 chosen from between 2,000 and 3,000 hopefuls.

Mr Dunning’s first four choices for a specialist subject were rejected for his heat in the BBC’s Salford studios, but eventually he answered questions on the Blackadder TV show.

In the semi-final he chose the Life and Music of John Lennon and in the final the Life and Poetry of Philip Larkin.

“In the final you get to do a film on your subject. Some of the others got to go to places like New York and Rome … I got Hull," he smiled.

“It was still an enjoyable day about Larkin’s life there.”

Mr Dunning, a keen Middlesbrough fan who was up against another Teesside finalist, third-placed Michael McPartland of Acklam, Middlesbrough, said the walk to the famous black chair was “unbelievably nerve-wracking.”

So what was it like to win the Mastermind glass bowl?

“I thought I’d be euphoric, punching the air, but it was nothing like that. I just felt relieved it was all over. When we got home I went for a pint at the Malleable Social Club where I do a quiz on a Monday night.

“What’s been great has been all the people here at home saying, ‘well done, we’re proud of you.’ This area gets battered in the national media. I just hope I’ve helped put a more positive image of Stockton over.”

  • Mr Dunning is establishing a private tuition service and specialises in teaching GCSE level English Literature and Language to people of all ages. He can be contacted on 01642-658905 or 07944-195296.

Local bus company Arriva North East has announced that its new Premium bus service, Sapphire, is heading for Teesside, East Cleveland and North Yorkshire this summer.

The new state-of-the-art buses will provide an exciting new customer experience for bus passengers. The service will include; free on board WIFI, electric charging points for phones, iPads and laptops, audio-visual stop announcements and luxury seats with extra leg room. The new buses, driven by a dedicated group of Sapphire drivers, will start arriving this August and will all be out in service by the end of the summer.
The new Sapphire buses represent a £4 million investment by the company and will operate on the 5/5a serving Middlesbrough, Guisborough and Loftus and the X3/X4 serving Middlesbrough, Redcar, Loftus and Whitby

Nick Knox, area managing director for Arriva North East, said: “We’re delighted to be introducing Sapphire on these routes, we have listened to our customers and we’re confident that they will be really pleased with the new, enhanced journey experience. We know that by investing in the local communities in which we operate not only encourages more people to join us on board, but also helps improve the local economy by ensuring good quality transport links for both business and leisure.”

Sapphire customers are also able to download the Arriva journey planner APP which makes bus travel easier for all, the new technology can track buses in real time meaning waiting at the bus stop will soon be a thing of the past; allowing customers to spend an extra few minutes finishing their breakfast or hitting a few more shops before heading for their bus.

Incidents on Teesside Facebook page causes unnecassary Police Tension

" Incidents On Teesside has this evening caused unnecessary public attention to an incident which was escalated by a social media post.
The page allowed a wanted male a platform, attention and a badge of honour after posting the incident to 90,000 people across Teesside.

The social media page owner was cycling around on his pedal bike following two police vans near his home in Norton with his camera in hand when he noticed an incident occurring.
The social media page immediately posted the incident on to Facebook which allowed a large crowd to gather some of who supported the male on the roof.
Abuse was hurled at police and more officers were required at the scene to prevent the incident from escalating. "
Read Original post HERE at B.N.Police
Cleveland Police warned the public to stay away from the area including Incidents on Teesside, who claims he was assaulted by the police at the scene of the incident.

One eye witness reported that the male in his Incidents On Teesside Jumper was hindering the police on the ground, close to the police cordon.
The wanted male on the roof then began posting updates to Facebook once they had the Incidents on Teesside audience behind them.
Incidents on Teesside who claim to be the ‘first on scene’ passing them self off as an emergency service glorified the incident bringing more and more people on to the streets.

Soon after the wanted male started posting to Facebook from on top of the roof to his 90,000 strong online audience in between hurling roof tiles at the Police.

Cleveland Police were forced to release an immediate statement requesting people not to spectate.

“Police are currently on Trent Street in Norton dealing with an incident whereby a male who they wish to speak with in connection with an assault is on the roof of a property and refusing to come down.

“There are reports that bricks have been thrown from the roof onto the ground below. Police dogs, ARVs and the police helicopter are on scene and cordons are in place to ensure the public remain at a safe distance. Officers are currently speaking with the male.

“At around 7:50pm this evening, police were called to reports of a man with minor head injuries at an address on Somerset Road. Officers on the ground have arrested a teenage boy in connection with the assault and are in police custody.

“Police are committed to ensuring the safety of the public and bringing the incident to a safe conclusion.

“Members of the public are being asked not to go to the area as a spectator as it causes traffic disruptions.”

This is not the first time Incidents On Teesside have escalated an incident following the death of Georgina Anderson the owner of the page set up a protest at a Stockton school resulting in a number or public order arrests.

Within the same week they faked a bomb incident and days later when on to fake a stabbing at Middlesbrough College.

Only this week Incidents On Teesside had their mobile application removed from the app store and google play after committing copyright infringement.

What seemed to start out as a good concept for Teesside has within two years become something that most emergency service workers hate following a number of incidents whereby they have cycled to the scene of a fatal crash and began uploading photos before family members have been informed.

The page is now becoming increasingly out of control the bigger it’s audience grows.

A new car park is now open in Stockton Town Centre which is making it easier for people to visit its vast array of shops and businesses.

As part of the town’s regeneration 34 short stay bays have been created outside The Shambles so people can park on the High Street.

Stockton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport, Councillor Mike Smith, said: “Stockton’s transformation really is starting to take shape.  Not only are the physical works progressing on a daily basis but the town is beginning to feel very different than it did a couple of years ago.  We intend to create a bustling, vibrant and welcoming town centre and we are well on the way to achieving that.  Businesses are already showing their confidence in the town with more than 50 choosing to relocate to, expand or establish themselves there in the last year.  Meanwhile the cultural opportunities are also continuing to grow with Stockton hosting its busiest ever events programme this year.

“We want as many people as possible to be able to easily enjoy all that Stockton has to offer and that’s why easy access to the town centre is vital to the town’s future prosperity.  This new car park gives more people the option of parking on the High Street within easy reach of the town’s businesses, shops, cultural, heritage an leisure opportunities.”

The car park is closed all day Wednesday and Saturday when the space is used by the town’s traditional market.

Work is also under way to create more short stay parking on the former Lindsay House site.

The Kettle Box : A new symbol of Britain ?  Thoughts from the Trussel Trust

1/29/2014

You might not have heard of 'kettle boxes' before. They sound innocuous enough; maybe, with the right kind of marketing, even a bit fashionable. Whole meals you can prepare with nothing more than a handy electric kettle.

What might you find in a kettle box? Dried soup. Instant mash. Porridge you make just by adding water. And of course that student staple, Pot Noodles.

No kettle? For you, there are 'cold boxes'. It may be harder to sell these as a culinary fashion item. They're for people who need to prepare food without heating or hot water. In comparison, the kettle boxes are positively upmarket.

This is Britain today. Staff at the Trussell Trust, which coordinates a network offood banks, have come up with the idea of kettle boxes and cold boxes because they're seeing people who cannot afford to heat their food, or simply don't have what's required to do so. Morecambe Bay food bank is giving out a couple of each of these every week to its clients.

When government apologists tell you their welfare reforms are working, they don't tell you about the people surviving on kettle boxes. They know most people won't ask.

The other day a friend told me about people he sees on a Sheffield estate who go into a takeaway twice a day for cheap, fatty food. 'No wonder they're obese,' he said. "They're just bone idle.'"

Another friend was shocked to hear that around 30,000 people in Sheffield are undernourished. 'Don't these people get benefits?' she asked.

Of course some people are bone idle, and not all of them are in the House of Lords. But studies of people who are long term unemployed suggest that most people on out-of-work are desperate to work and have a work ethic at least as strong as those in employment
The people who go to takeaways twice a day may find it cheaper to buy hot snacks than to pay gas and electricity bills. They may be seriously depressed and struggle to find the energy to cook the same basic ingredients week after week. It's much easier, though, if we can assume they're idle and blame them for their predicament.

There are people who struggle with budgeting and who mismanage their income, or who seek oblivion in drink and drugs. It's more obvious when they have little than when they are hidden behind suburban curtains. But the reality is that many more are having to cope with the consequences of decisions taken by others, in particular the unforgivable delays in paying out of work benefits, which leave families relying on friends and charity (see this report on Sheffield food banks, or Church Action on Poverty's Walking the Breadline). This is likely to get even worse as the government targets welfare recipients for the worst of its next tranche of cuts.

This doesn't give people incentives to improve their lives. It's the institutionalised kicking of people when they're down, and my friends' comments show just how successful our political and media culture has been in perpetuating the lie that if your life is in a mess, it's almost certainly your own fault.

What the purveyors of blame fail to recognise is how utterly counterproductive this punitive mentality is. Depriving people of the little they get doesn't make them more able to cope: it only makes them more desperate. They may vanish from the unemployment figures and the claimant count, but they're still with us.

This is why we need to rethink welfare in a way that treats people as adults who can and should make their own choices about their lives. To do that we need to guarantee everyone the basics of life and to centre our policies on human needs, as I argued in this report last year.

Instead of taking away the little people have, a far more positive approach would be to guarantee them a sufficient minimum income to cover all the basics of life. We can then dismantle much of the costly and vindictive apparatus of Jobcentre Plus and the Department of Work and Pensions and redirect those funds to provide real help to those who don't have the skills to manage or who are in crisis.

A basic minimum income isn't a utopian dream. As Frances Coppola has argued, it's an alternative that needs to be considered seriously; and as Matt Leach posted the other week, it's an approach that could take housing in particular out of the ideological battleground and enable landlords to think more creatively about their role in improving their tenants' lives and life chances.

A minimum income could free people to do work that is life-enhancing and builds community, rather than the drudgery of the despairing. It could defuse the culture of blame and finger-pointing that has contaminated political debate and strangled serious thinking about how to built a better society.

What Britain lacks is the political imagination to shift the terms of debate. Until more of us discover and articulate that imagination, we'll be stuck with the worst of solutions: kettle boxes, cold food parcels, and an uncomprehending culture of blame that changes nothing

Teesside Incidents Facebook page to close due to constant abuse by "Another " Teesside Facebook News page

12/30/2013

....And so due to the constant and repetitive childish actions of a Teesside "news" Incident page the newer and more adult minded and professional Teesside Incidents (TI) has decided to close and move its efforts to its main news page .
The admin of TI has told me of how they have had fake accounts , messages , even going as far as to stalking to intimidate  said admin and staff to bad mouth /slander and force closure of what is seen as a rival page .

How petty.
TI Admin quoted  "We attempted to speak to person in question to prevent it from escalating to which we were informed 'do you want a blue peter badge' 'grow up don't waste our time' among many other things, there admin team have been constantly sending us abuse for 12 - 6 months from the ownership of our main page, which has become worse and constant since the opening of this page, which does not even cover the same content or anything similar."
Read More Blog: Facebook page removes or prevents commenting

Many Stocktonians who have been members of the other Teesside "news" Incident page have been banned , blocked from commenting (myself included) just for having differing opinions or not agreeing with the staff .   They protest to being a professional outfit but behave as would a petulant teenager .

"The page has also been responsible for banning murder victims family’s from pages for publishing photos of dead relatives blood, the cars they were killed within and everyone else who disagrees with their page " it has been alleged.
If you are on this other Teesside "news" Incident page I urge you to unlike it .

AND YOU ALL KNOW WHICH PAGE WE ARE ON ABOUT !!!!!

Out of the blue there was a testimonial from the ever expanding Breaking News North and Teesside Incidents.
We here at About Stockton | StocktonTeesside.co.uk appreciate this and continue daily to update our website with news , features, blogs and `humorous bits and bobs` .  With all the staff having normal jobs an families this can be a bit of an effort but we try so recognition is always welcomed .
We think BNNorth and Teesside Incidents are doing an amazing job and they've done it quickly and professionally . They've gone quickly from a small FB page to an array of professional websites with links to official Police organisations and many other media outlets .
We wish them good luck in the future though I have no doubt it wont be needed as they will be a raging success .
